StiwdioUn (or studio One in English) is a residential recording studio built in a converted Welsh stone house. StiwdioUn is set in the centre of a friendly village, Rachub; near Bethesda - North Wales on the mountain side of Moel Faban at the mouth of the Ogwen Valley - view photo... [Further information on the area - wikipedia].
The studio is a family run business designed and built by Samuel Durrant, an engineer with over 21 years recording experience. With his background stemming from classical music, working with classical guitarist Richard Durrant, Samuel is by now a veteran of the Welsh music scene. Samuel had already built another significant studio in Waunfawr near Caernarfon, North Wales, which is now a community based recording studio called Gwynfryn.
Samuel Durrant has recorded most kinds of music including choirs and brass bands through to Welsh rock and pop bands with everything in-between. (afro beat, hip-hop, opera, folk, jazz and world music) Please see artists and associates for an idea of some of the types of music recorded here.
Whether you are a solo artist or have a large band StiwdioUn can achieve any sound you could possibly want. Using a combination of digital and analogue equipment you can have clarity of modern recording technology with the warmth of the past.
As well as an ever expanding collection of vintage and modern microphones - currently over 40 models - the studio also offers a unique free drum tuning service which is done a day prior to sessions. View full details on our equipment & technology
