I’ve been recording sound and producing music since 1988. My background stems from classical music such as recording solo material, soundtrack scores and various ensembles.
I have worked extensively with concert PA systems on the festival circuit in the 90’s and subsequently on the Welsh music scene. This led to me building a previous recording studio in Waunfawr near Caernarfon, which is now Gwynfryn , a community based recording studio.
I have recorded most genres of music including choirs and brass bands through to rock and pop bands with everything in-between (Afro beat, hip-hop, opera, folk, Death Metal, jazz and world music) and of course voiceovers and radio plays.
I regard myself primarily as an engineer/producer although I am qualified in electronics and computer programming and I play music, but only for pleasure.
I have truly eclectic taste in music with over 6000 albums on vinyl and several thousand on cd and I enjoy helping people achieve any sound they can describe in the studio.
STIWDIO UN can only be described as a gold nugget lodged into the side of a mountain! The remote setting is both stunning and inspiring and if that doesn’t appeal then the studio itself surely will.
Featuring the best of both software and analogue Worlds, you have the choice over your sound and an array of microphones, guitars, keyboards and other instruments to work with.
Owner and Engineer Sam Durrant works tirelessly to help you create the songs you always knew you had and takes the time to explain his set ups and how he came to discover them. With many other unique features built by Sam himself (including an outdoor swimming pool, bar and bunk house) the whole studio stands as testament to a work of love.
I can’t think of a better environment for a recording artist to be in. Highly recommended
